Two LPG dealers in Manikganj have been fined a total of Tk 1 lakh for selling gas cylinders at prices higher than the government-approved rates.
The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate conducted the drive on Wednesday afternoon in the Beutha area of the town. The operation was led by Asaduzzaman Rumel, Assistant Director of the district office.
During the inspection, officials found that Millennium Traders and M/S Bhai Bhai Traders were selling each cylinder at least Tk 300 above the fixed price. Under Section 40 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, both establishments were fined Tk 50,000 each.
Assistant Director Asaduzzaman Rumel said the fines were imposed for selling LPG cylinders at inflated prices. He added that regular monitoring drives will continue to keep essential commodity prices stable and protect consumer rights.
